Group 1 is currently full.
A title/theme/topic is agreed for each month, and at the meeting we each read out our prepared piece and get honest and constructive feedback. We are not a taught group – so no lessons on how to write. A major part of the interest in the group is hearing how others have interpreted an idea. Because of this format, our writings tend to be fairly short pieces, so that everyone gets to be heard. “Part-works” are possible too, but this is not the place to try out your autobiography or next novel!
Group 2 is open for new members…
We are a small new group.
At a preliminary meeting, we used the 5Ws framework to structure a debate to narrow down our objectives. If you Google this, the references are largely to Marketing and Business Studies but, as we are a writing group, I prefer this more literary version:
“I keep six honest serving-men
(They taught me all I know);
Their names are What and Why and When
And How and Where and Who”
Elephant’s Child, Just So Stories, Rudyard Kipling 1902
Quoted in “Gaby’s Copyrighters’ Compendium”
The aim of the group is to facilitate members to start / develop their writing (in all its forms). I can send the full 5Ws discussion to anyone who is interested.
If you are inspired to write, please do contact me tony@tonycurtisconsultant.com to join the discussion.
