Spanish 1

Day: 1st and 3rd Fridays: 2.00pm – 4.00pm

This group caters for those who already have a degree of command and understanding of the Spanish language.

Like the Improvers Spanish group, sessions aren’t purely conversational based, but have a variety of content. There is plenty of speaking in each session, together with some reading and listening with the odd bit of writing (mostly at home,  usually as preparation work for the next session).  An item of grammar is also usually covered in most sessions, often something that has been requested by group members.

Personal, local, national and international news continue to play a big part in our group discussions. £2 per session attended.

Improvers Spanish

Venue: upstairs in the Maritime Inn, Plymouth Barbican

Meet:  1st + 3rd Tuesday: 2.00pm – 3.30pm

This group has now been redesigned and is no longer run like an adult education class, as we have moved past the stage of needing to follow a course. These days the group  is run in much the same manner as the Spanish 1 group, but at a slightly less advanced level. Anyone with some previous knowledge who wants to brush up on their (perhaps rusty) Spanish is welcome to join us. Don’t worry if you haven’t studied or used Spanish for a while, you’ll be fine if you are willing to give it a go.

Like Spanish 1 our sessions aren’t purely conversational based, but have a variety of content. There is plenty of speaking in each session, together with some reading and listening with the odd bit of writing (mostly at home,  usually as preparation work for the speaking part of the next session).  We also usually pick out an item of grammar most sessions, often something that has cropped up in a previous conversation or a query arising from Duolingo. There is also a focus on learning about elements of Spanish culture and history.

£2 per session attended.

Day: 1st & 2nd Mondays: 2.00pm

This is predominantly a conversational session for members who wish to improve their Spanish and are interested in Spain and Spanish culture in general (literature, art, food, wine etc).  The group  is at a level where even a basic understanding of Spanish will allow you to join in.  We have a wide range of knowledge of Spain and Spanish in the group and we have a native Spanish speaker amongst us.  £2 per session attended. It is not a taught group and we don´t follow a set course, so it is probably not suitable for complete beginners.
