All rambles accessed by public transport. 2nd &/or 4th Tuesday in the month. We ramble where we find things to identify: wild flowers, deer, butterflies and other insects, birdsong, badger setts, etc. Wildlife is readily frightened, so not suitable for dogs. We keep walking till we come to some area of interest, then stop for 10-20 minutes before continuing. Wear sturdy walking shoes/boots. Bring sun-gear, rain-gear, picnic, drink, something to sit on (e.g. a plastic bag). Most walks contain uphill and downhill sections, sometimes brief steep sections. Average walking time 3-4 hours, returning to Royal Parade mid to late afternoon. The U3A Trust require that “members [of every U3A group] carry next of kin [contact] details with them”.
