Free First Aid Course

Email from Tracy Knight : traceyknight@redcross.org.uk

The Red Cross are still offering free first aid courses for U3A groups.

The courses are designed to be easy to learn and be easy to remember. They are typically two hours long and the skills taught include broken bones, bleeding, strains and sprains, head injury, unresponsive not breathing.

All that she requires to run a course is a minimum of 6 learners and a suitable room.

If you are interested in booking a course, please let me know your preferred dates and times.

Tracy is currently booking for November onwards. She will then send confirmation.

Currently, Richard has collected over a dozen people who have expressed an interest. Can anyone propose a suitable room in which to hold the training?

Executive Committee

A position exists for a Business Secretary on the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee are also asking for a person to sit on the Committee in a ‘non-portfolio’ capacity, who would contribute their thoughts and ideas in running the Plymouth U3A, so if you have a couple of hours to spare each month and would like to know more about it, please speak to any of the Committee.

 Visit Garden Group

The October visit to Torre Abbey Gardens has been cancelled due to a lack of car drivers able to go on this occasion.

Can I appeal for more members for this group, especially car drivers, which meets on the 4th Friday of each month (except December when we are meeting on the second Friday to visit Cotehele to see the Christmas Garland)

Learn to Sing/Singing for Fun

Unfortunately we have been unable to get a pianist who is available every Friday afternoon nor enough numbers of members who are free to attend the group then. Therefore I regret that the group will no longer continue.
