Plymouth u3a is a learning co-operative of mature people which enables members to share educational, creative and leisure activities. It is not a ‘university’ in the accepted sense, but is a meeting place for those who are no longer in full time employment who want to share their varying interests by way of subject groups.
u3a members share their skills and life experiences: the learners teach and the teachers learn, retired and semi-retired people come together and learn together; not for qualifications but for its own reward: the sheer joy of discovery!
Because of Covid-19 restrictions ‘in person’ Monthly Meetings are cancelled until further notice.
Virtual Monthly Meeting
The committee have decided that during these difficult times, we should re-introduce holding our general meetings, albeit the only way we can, as a virtual meeting via Zoom. The first of these meetings was on Monday 8th March. There will, of course, be a speaker as part of these meetings. However, they also provide us with the opportunity to touch base with members and allow them to meet our committee members. Notification of these meetings will come via email from Trish Hodge – our online meetings co-ordinator, about two weeks before. There are 95 places available and you can reserve your place by reply to her notification email. Invites will be allocated on a first come first served basis in order of response to the email.
During October and November we trialed Online Talks. This proved to be very popular, so we now have two Online Talks every month whilst Covid-19 restrictions are in place.
Our monthly meetings are normally held on the second Monday of each month.
Meetings start from 10:45 with tea and coffee served from 10:00.
